As more and more settlers head west, new cities pop up like mushrooms. Due to the distances between them, these new cities quickly come to rely on new railroads for the transport of vital goods. Trails become rails and create great wealth. Soon, a complex railroad network develops, and steam belching iron horses connect the thriving cities.
Defend CATAN! 570 years after the arrival of the first settlers on Catan, an enemy army lands on the northern shores. Knights from every region must join together to defend the island. Equipped with cavalry and cannon, your knights fight back. Only together will you be able to stop the onslaught. Can you save Catan from destruction? The three scenarios tell an interwoven story and gives experienced players new challenges as they consider new strategies for victory. It is the most intense challenge for Catan ever designed. This not a complete game. Requires CATAN Base Game and CATAN - Cities & Knights expansion.
Long before the Inkan (aka "Incan") Empire rose to dominance in Peru, many advanced indigenous cultures developed and declined in the Andean regions of South America. Catan: Rise of the Inkas confronts you with new strategic challenges as you play. Development works in much the same as the core mechanics of Catan build roads and settlements, gain development cards to give you an advantage, and use the robber to hinder your opponents. However, eventually your early tribe will reach their pinnacle and be supplanted as you start a new era. As you play Rise of the Inkas, you must twice decline your early tribes to make way for a new tribe's era. You remove all your constructed roads from the board and cover your settlements in vines to denote that these may no longer be developed. But your game doesn't end there. When your tribe goes into decline, you place a new settlement on an available board space and continue the game using this new settlement. Timing is an important part of your strategy as you play Catan: Rise of the Inkas, take advantage of your opponent's settlements in decline to set yourself up to claim victory.
Come meet some of the most influential and helpful people on CATAN tan. They are offering their skills and experience to help you with your building plans. This small expansion is suitable for use with the CATAN base game and "CATAN - Seafarers." If you have played the PC/Mac game " CATAN - Cities & Knights" or the latest release, the " CATAN - Creator's Edition," you have met the Helpers of CATAN as computer opponents: good-natured Marianne, conceited Sean, or brazen pirate Jean. Perhaps you have chafed at some of the helpers, because the computer opponents are quite strong and sometimes give even seasoned Catan players a hard time settling. In the new, small expansion " CATAN Scenarios - Helpers of CATAN," Marianne, Sean & Co. are no longer your opponents but help and support you and the other players while playing " CATAN" sitting around the table. With the helpers the base game becomes even more diverse. For example, Candamir makes it easier for you to buy development cards, Louis allows you to move a road, and Lin sends the robber back to the desert. Adepts say that this small expansion adds a touch of "Cities & Knights" to the CATAN base game but doesn't make it more complex.

Was it too windy on the beach for a game of Catan? Was the table too small to set up the island? Were you unable to settle Catan because there were only two of you? Or did you always have to leave Catan at home because there was no room left for it in your suitcase? Catan - Traveler would have prevented all this from happening. All of the game components fit in a case that occupies half the space required to store the Catan base game. The game pieces are stored in drawers. During play, you can take the pieces directly from there as needed, and you can put them back into the drawers after the game has ended. Roads, settlements, and cities have small pegs that allow you to securely plug them into the holes in the game board. That way, gusts of wind or an accidental jostle won't jumble up the pieces you have placed on the game board. The two dice are stored in a dice shaker with transparent cover, which is why they practically can't be lost. You can roll the dice everywhere - even if no flat surface is available or there isn't enough space to throw the dice with your hand. It takes only a couple of seconds to set up the game board for Catan - Traveler. Open the case and place the 6 double-sided game board pieces. Since you can randomly combine the board pieces, there are hundreds of different ways to set up the island. As with the Catan base game, besides completely balanced terrain hex distributions the compact version also allows for set-ups containing very few hexes of a particular terrain type, for example, mountains or hills. People frequently travel in pairs. In order for you to settle Catan together with your partner, the compact version includes the tried and tested 2-player rules and the corresponding game components.
Rivals for Catan puts you in charge of one of the two factions developing newly-settled Catan. Use your cards to create your own principality. Explore and settle new lands, acquiring resources through card play and the luck of the dice. Use gold, resource combinations, and trade to develop your domain. Expand your settlements and cities, recruit heroes, and defend your lands through politics, invention, and intrigue. Your cunning and a dash of luck decides who will be the ruler over Catan.
This expansion includes three new Theme Sets, "The Era of Intrigue," "The Era of Merchant Princes," and "The Era of Barbarians," which add more variation to the existing game. In addition, the Tournament Game is introduced. The Era of Intrigue! Determine Catan's spiritual balance! A Religious Dispute causes both players to lose cards. Churches and Temples minimize losses. Temple cards strengthen your access to your own draw stacks. Church cards lure opposing heroes and earn gold. With a Church and a Temple, you may build the Great Thing stead and end the conflict. The Era of Merchant Princes! Control Catan's commerce! This set focuses on the Commercial Harbor and the Merchant's Residences, decisive buildings in the struggle for trade advantage. Maritime Trade Monopolies and the Master Merchants enhance trade ships. The Shipbuilder reduces the building costs of ships. Dominate trade using clever card combinations! The Era of Barbarians! Barbarians invade! Both players must muster and fend off their attacks. Employ Castles, Border Fortresses, the Strategist, the Caravel, and new heroes. Will you prevail or be ransacked? Requires Rivals for Catan to Play
